100k Word Challenge: Days 13 and 14

Words written on Day 13:  5,013

Words written on Day 14:  305

Thoughts:  Yesterday was productive, but today wasn’t.  My story is finally wrapping up, and all I need is the final sex scene, minor conflict, the ending, and prologue…all in 6,000 words or less.

Today, I went back to work, and it was only me and one other worker.  I had to see around eight clients, and I wasn’t even able to data entry for the ones that had paperwork because I was so busy.  It was thirty minutes before I had to leave, when I was called to see a client who was more than an hour late for her appointment.  Then she wanted to argue about her coverage and kept insisting it was something it wasn’t.  At the end, I told the person she had the appointment with that I had to go because it was the end of my work day.  I do not get paid enough to give them one minute of free time.  Not with all the daily questions and requests from people getting paid more than me but expecting me to hold their hand and do their work for them.

Sorry that went off into a rant, but I love my job, just not the work ethic of some of my coworkers.  These are adults with adult children and grandchildren, and they come to me for every problem they come across.  Don’t even get me started on the number of mistakes they make, or the times they lied or misinformed clients, or them just being lazy and not doing their work.

The flu was awful, but at least it gave me a break from them.  I went to the doctor today after work because I was wheezing, and it turns out that I’m fine.  Maybe it’s psychosomatic, but even looking sick and dead tired at work doesn’t stop the endless calls for me to go see clients that had to come back because my coworkers screwed up the initial screening.

Do I sound bitter?  Yes, I am very bitter.  I wish I could have used all the energy from this post in my writing.  Who knows, maybe I’ll write some more words…actually, I am very tired, so I’m going to bed soon.

Good night all!  Tell me about your awful coworker stories!

Much love, Dana Kenzi 🙂
